Welcome Time Travellers to Time Walk (like an Egyptian)
We will go through all the things that you will need to know when you go travelling back to Ancient Egypt. from things like how to act to
Now we will go through things like where it is, the religion they followed, important events and dates, politics and V.I.P or the significant people of that time.
GEOGRAPHY
Egypt, is located between Libya, Israel and Sudan. The Mediterranean is at the top of Egypt and is where the River Nile ends. For growing crops people placed there farms on either side of the Nile. If a farmer couldn't get a place close to the Nile they would build canals that would let the water flow to those fields. The Egyptians thought that the land was in two parts- the red land and the black land. The red land is the desert and offers protection from enemies, the black land is the fertile land where they plant the crops for the next year. The reason it is called the black land is because each time the Nile floods a layer of black silt is left that makes the land more fertile.
The Nile river offered the people of Egypt fertile land every year for growing crops. The barren dessert around this river meant they had a place to build pyramids and protection. It also gave them access to metals that were used to make tools and jewellery.
It would be bets not to visit during the flooding season which is between June and September and is called Akhet.

RELIGION
The belief system for this civilisation included a lot of different gods that all had a different role to play in the protection and well being of Egypt and its people. Some gods were represented with the heads of animals that were sacred to the people of Egypt. If you make fun of how the Gods look you will probably be executed on the spot and that will mean you will be completely dead even in the future
EVENTS AND DATES
The Egyptians had their period of time in three parts- the old middle and new kingdoms. They celebrated big events including the days for different gods were their statues were taken down the river Nile on a barge for all to see. this would be a great experience to see, although it is not quite sure when each one was, if you wanted to be at the heart of these celebrations though go to the town where the temple for that god is to be part of the
POLITICS
The people of Egypt were ruled over by a Pharaoh. the Pharaoh was to be kind and fair, he also took advice from the high priests. The Pharaohs looked after the water systems, stored food and checked the archetecture to make sure everything was going to plan.
SIGNIFICANT PEOPLE
Rammesees the great was one of the greatest pharaohs and the best warrior Egypt had seen.
Between him and the Hitties they made the first peace treaty ever known in history.

Queen Nefertiti of Egypt was another important person to the Egyptian civilisation. She introduced a new god to the Egyptians, Aten. Aten was believed to be a sun god and more powerful then Horus who was the main Egyptian god. Nefertiti and her husband Amenhotep were the only people who could preach to this new God. Nefertiti and Amenhotep ruled Egypt side by side and reguarly where seen kissing in public.
Queen Hatshesupt was a forerunner of many other famous woman in history. When her husband died he declared her the new Pharaoh of Egypt. She then dressed as a man and ruled Egypt for 20 years. During those years on the throne trade flourished in Egypt, when her successor came however he had her name chipped of all the walls and temples showing that the successor thought she was unworthy to have ruled over Egypt.
Cleopatra ruled alone after marrying all of her brother, these brothers however did not please her and she had them executed. She then had an affair with Julius Caesar and apparently had his child. After Caesar was assassinated she began another affair with Mark Antoney. When roman soldiers came for her instead of being taken she had poisonous sankes bit her. when she was young her mother died and her sister came to power she fled the palace with her nurse maid and did not return until word that her father was storming the palace to take back the throne. She then became her fathers most trusted advisor and later Pharaoh of Egypt.
Tutenkahmen was one of the last Pharaohs of Egypt. he died at age 13 and when he did his tomb was built into the side of a cliff to hide it better then all of the other Pharaohs ever had.
